The board was established in 1976 as the Occupational Therapy Board. In 1977, regulation of physical therapy was transferred from the Medical Board to the Ohio Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy Board. In 1990, licensure of athletic trainers was added to the responsibility of the Ohio OTPTAT Board. In 2018, the board began oversight of orthotics, prosthetics, and pedorthics. The regulation of these professions includes: issuing and renewing the licenses of properly qualified individuals; investigating complaints against licensees; monitoring compliance with mandatory continuing education requirements; and educating licensees and the consumers of the services provided by the board's licensees on the laws and rules that govern the practice of occupational therapy, physical therapy, athletic training, orthotics, prosthetics, and pedorthics in Ohio and the board's role to promote and protect the health of the citizens of Ohio through effective regulation of these professions. Athletic Trainers Section - 9:00 AM Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics Advisory Council - 9:00 AM Occupational Therapy Section - 9:30 AM Physical Therapy Section - 9:30 AM Joint Board - 11:00 AM AT continuing education audit for 2018 renewals - Monday, December 9, 2019 The Athletic Trainers Section of the OTPTAT Board is conducting its regular CE Audit of Athletic Trainers covering the period of October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2018, as required by Ohio Administrative Code rule 4755-45-01 . Audit notices will come from the board via email to a random sampling of licensees. If you receive a notice, simply submit the proper documentation to the board by the date stated in the notice letter. If you do not receive a notice, you are not subject to audit at this time. AT license holders are required to complete 25 hours of continuing education each renewal cycle, including one hour of ethics. More information and frequently asked questions may be found in the continuing education area of the AT Section webpage. In order to ensure that you receive proper notice of audit and also notice of license renewals, please be sure your email address is up-to-date in the eLicense system. Deadline is January 31, 2020. You cannot renew late! Continuing Education: As a reminder, first time renewals do not need to complete education requirements. Increase in Prometric fee for Physical Therapist/Physical Therapist Assistant Ohio Jurisprudence Exam - Friday, October 4, 2019 Please note that the fee paid to Prometric Testing Center for taking the Ohio Physical Therapy Jurisprudence Examination will increase to $29.50 (from $25) effective January 1, 2020. Wall license display in eLicense Ohio - Wednesday, September 25, 2019 A new feature has been enabled in the eLicense Ohio system to allow license holders to log into the system and pull up a copy of your wall license. To do so, please log into the eLicense Ohio website ( http://elicense.ohio.gov ) and click the “options” tab on your license. One of the menu options will be “download wall certificate.” This will bring up a copy of your wall certificate and allow you to print it or save it to your phone or other electronic device. Step-by-step instructions are available for your assistance. As a result of this new feature, the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Board recently made a change to Ohio Administrative Code for the occupational therapy, physical therapy, and athletic trainer sections. This change allows a license holder to display their wall certificate on an electronic device as a way of meeting the requirement for license display. The Board recognizes that we live in an increasingly mobile world and use of this feature enhances the ability to display your license at the request of anyone who may wish to see proof of licensure. Replacement wall certificates will still be available by request for those who wish to continue to use a hard copy for a fee of $10.
